Leadership often plays a critical role in the success of organizations. Leaders ability to develop a shared mission and vision for their organization to recruit and retain talented people and to motivated them to work hard to attain key goals. We hear about leaders ability to foster a work environment where creativity and innovation are promoted and employees are encouraged to take risks and feel empowered to tackle challenging problems on their own. In this chapter we focus specifically on one aspect of leadership the importance of the leaders personal moral character and their power and influence in shaping the ethical climate and culture of their organization. This is important for a number of reasons. Scandals of early 2000 and financial crisis unethical behaviour caused immense harm to many organizational stakeholders it is important therefore to understand the nature and extent of these influences.
