Political events also had a strong religious meaning, and vice versa. Most civic and sacred functions were under the patronage of the gods. Boule (council): protected/supervised by zeus boulaios and artemis boulaia. Agora: also a sacred place, religious place, cult of zeus agoraios and hermes agoraios. Phratriai): groups of families, people tied by religious activities, but they were also where you got citizenship certificate, done by members of this organization: zeus phratrios and athene phratria, gave religious sanction of citizenship (political) A number of civic festival (no less than 150) - non-athenians always made fun of them for always partying.
