ANAT 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 27: Prostatic Urethra, Corpus Cavernosum Penis, Perineum
Document Summary
Pelvis made up of two hip bones, each made up of ilium above, ischium below and posterior, and pubis anteriorly which meet at the acetabulum. Pelvic brim/inlet stretches from wing of sacrum to pubic symphysis. Below pelvic inlet is true pelvis/bony pelvis and this houses the urogenital diaphragm. Ischium: bottom is ischial ramus (often called inferior ramus) Pubis: meet at pubic symphysis, have superior and inferior ramus. Pubic angle/arch: angle between the two pubis bones. Obturator foramen: covered by a membrane, obturator membrane. Ischial spine and tuberosity: forms notches (greater and lesser sciatic) Superior ramus: forms pelvic brim, extends from wing to pubic symphysis. Muscles and ligaments on inside wall of pelvis. Sacrospinous ligament: stretches from ischiatic spine to coccyx and sacrum. Sacrotuberous ligament: comes from ischial tuberosity and attaches to lateral side of sacrum. These crisscross and stabilize the region, support the sacrum and coccyx, also form foramen to let muscle tendons through.
