Regulatory organ which preserves constancy of internal environment (homeostasis) by: Excreting excess water and waste products of metabolism: filters the blood but keeps all the good stuff, the rest becomes urine. Maintaining the body"s normal extracellular or plasma fluid volume and acid- base balance. Producing hormones which regulate body blood pressure (renin, increases bp, helps kidney filter blood more efficiently) and numbers of rbcs (erythropoietin, cause rbcs to multiply in the marrow to increase blood and oxygen transport)
