Many japanese myths were based on the imperial japanese family. One of the more popular japanese mythology figures is the deity, amaterasu omikami the sun goddess. Shikinen sengu is a japanese ceremony that honours ancient japanese mythology, figures, and deities. Shinto is the only major indigenous religion of japan, having ancient roots in japan history. Buddhism is one of the major religions in japan.
