HPED 2050 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Goal Setting
Document Summary
Goal setting is an effective tool to improve your practicum performance and satisfaction. Effective goal setting can help you focus your attention, mobilize efforts and enhance your overall learning. There is significant research to support the statement that people who write down their goals accomplish significantly more than those who do not. There are many keys to effective goal setting but the best place to start is to write down any general goal and then put it through the s. m. a. r. t. filter (is it specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound?) Example of general goal: i want to be a better communicator. : i want to improve my public speaking skills by talking in front of the group at least once in each morning meeting. Next write an action plan that will help you achieve your goal: i will improve my public speaking confidence by attending toastmaster meetings on tuesday nights.
