Drawing on strength in numbers, participation, and indigenous leadership to decrease power imbalances and achieve a shared goal. Someone who holds a stake in the issue. Need to look at all the different ppl who may be involved. Making sure people get to participate in what is being discussed. Helping to nurture and foster relationships within the community. Making sure the leader is from the community. Although too often it is the outsiders who are working in a community. If we do community work right, we do still want to be a part of it, so this point can be questionable in terms of fostering independance . perhaps working ourselves into a different role. Seeks change at a community level - addressing a social issue, a barrier, a problem or an opportunity. Works to make issues visible and part of the societal discourse.
