It is hard to have a universal de nition and experience of children and childhood. Each experience is variable and subjective based on personal narratives and experiences. De nitions explored: statistics canada, oxford dictionary, india, uganda. Statistics canada: does not include age which is ambiguous, no biological reference and includes familial connection beyond blood. Oxford: does not include age, no biological reference and de nes in terms of what children cannot do. These can be seen as being apart of western childhood. Depending time, experience and place of childhood. There are different components within childhood including: Phase in lifecycle before physical changes associated with puberty are socially recognized. Begin around the age of 13 and can last approximately until 18-19 years of age. Tweens: originates from the 1980"s within a marketing magazine. Not widely known in the past: strong force in marketing and consumerism. Wednesday, september 13, 2017: 8 to 13 year olds who are in-between being teens and children.
