Social psychology was failing in terms of sociology. Sociology in social psychology was flawed and incomplete. Social structure: persistent patterns of behavior and interactions between people within identify social positions. Experience is different for people in different positions and social structures. Social structure and personally as a whole: how does ones position in a large social structure affect the immediate conditions of their life and how do these conditions affect their values orientations and thinking processes. Important to understand larger social structure in immediate environment. Have one friend who is not able to come out a lot due to work because they are part of a lower class. To ignore social structure is to ignore the reasoning of why people are the way they are. By ignoring social structures, we ignore how it affects individuals. Looking at macro structures you wont get too far in studies. Si = meaning making, ssp = how social structures influence behaviors.
