Seeking to understand patterns, something that has been studied / understood, want to know if it will be similar: correlations. Seeks to understand if there is a correlation a connection between two or more variables. Ex: is there a correlation between video games and violence: hypothesis testing. A testable answer to a question an educated guess". Ex: i hypothesize that video games lead to violence. Gure out of hypothesis will be supported or refuted.
