American medical associaion recognized obesity as a disease. Help improve reimbursement for obesity drugs, surgery & counseling. Disagreement b/c bmi sill used to measure obesity. Obesity has no symptoms, it"s just a risk factor for other condiions. Medicalizes obesity, deines more people as obese.
