Unable to stop logging of old forest trees. 1970s marked new wave of environ activism. Increased concerns over impacts to human health & well-being. Effects of population growth, toxic air, soil & water pollution. Deforestation, human-related extinction of other species challenged myth eco growth & technology will solve environ problems: deep ecology.
