Once internalized, they form the basis for day-to-day perception of others. Without factual information, it"s easy for us to resort to stereotypes. However, stereotypes contain some level of truth. Difference between positive and negative stereotypes (exam q????) Unfair perceptions imposed on many asian individuals. Putting people into box generalizing and ignoring other characteristics. And it"s even harder to ignore that i"m not. Stereotypes are inevitable, but something like intelligence can be so important to a person"s life that attributing it merely to race and disguising it as a compliment is more than a stereotype it"s an outright insult . Women are typically seen as kinder, gentler, and more nurturing than men. Seen as disadvantages in the occupational context. A set of negative beliefs, attitudes, and judgments about whole categories of people and about individual members of those categories. Comes and goes as social conditions change. Anti-muslim sentiments with the rising incidents of global terrorism.
