2nf3: basic and clinical neuroscience frontal lobes. Anatomy of the frontal lobes: prefrontal cortex: input from dorsomedial nucleus (thalamus, thalamus has a bunch of clusters of nuclei to interpret sensory info, dorsomedial nucleus brings info to anterior parts of brain, divisions, dorsolateral. Orbitofrontal cortex interpreting info relating to eyes: medial frontal cortex, part of the cingulate cortex, cingulate is hunk of tissue sitting on corpus collossum, extends into frontal cortex, whole brain projections selects responses one makes. Connections of the motor and premotor areas: motor cortex. Asymmetry of the frontal lobes: left hemisphere, language (production, comprehension, encoding memories (long term specifically, right hemisphere, nonverbal movements, facial expression, retrieving memories. Appears after lesions of the left frontal lobe. Reduced sexual interest, little or no verbal output: pseudopsychopathy. Appears after lesions of the right frontal lobe. Immature behaviour, lack of tact and restraint (risky)
