A theory about the relationship between attitudes and behaviors. We used to use attitudes to predict behavior. Ex: how you feel about sex and whether or not you will use a condom. You need to ask speci cally in order to predict behavior . Dt introduced the idea that we can use behvaior to predict or change attitudes. Doomsday cult field study: world was gonna end bc god is mad at us the ood would come and wipe everyone out except everyone in the cult. You could just go back to living your life but festinger thought something else would happen . They had to gure out a way to prove that they saved the world. In this case, you could alter the idea that you are a smart and reasonable person . You can"t change the fact that you joined a cult.
