Sensation: the acquisition of info thru the sensory organs and the transmission of that info to the brain. Perception: how you interpret the info you get from your sense; an attribution of meaning. Nativist: the view that our sensory perceptions have on us (nature) Empiricist: in order for any ability to be fully adult like, we need to have experiences (nurture) any of the senses isn"t perfect at birth. A box/crib that the chimp sat in, and showed them images and see which image the chimp would prefer to look at. Look at how long does the baby fixate on each object; whichever image they look at longest is their preferred image. Now, moms have babies on their laps and the researchers look at what the baby is looking at. Present the baby w/ a stimulus and present it to the baby until they get bored (habituated) Once they"re bored, we change the stimulus just a little bit.
