Document Summary

Learning: relatively enduring change in behaviour due to experience. Learning is important in order to evolve, it is why some individuals in a population live to reproduce. (survival of the fittest). Behaviourism: we learn from experience: pavlov: reflective responses associate with cues. Habituation: decrease in behavioral responding to a repeated stimulus. We are able to ignore things that are(cid:374)"t i(cid:373)porta(cid:374)t. (ie. we do(cid:374)"t feel our clothes. Sensitization: increase in behavioral responding to a repeated stimulus. We become more and more aware and sensitive to the world around us. (after watching a horror movie) Associative learning: how two or more pieces of info are related. Classical conditioning: learn that two stimuli go together. Operant/instrumental conditioning: learn that a behavior leads to a particular outcome. Long-term potentiation (ltp): the strengthening of synaptic connections between neurons. We are able to build connections for faster and faster responses to learned behaviour.
