Poli science sep 22 2016 lecture 8. Nurture theory tends to come from anthropology. Richard leeky was a known anthropologist: he draws picture of aggressive development and warfare, says it was agricultural revolution that marked the change of people becoming aggressive. Paleoanthropology is the study of understanding human characteristics based on bones. Development of towns and cities led to more violence: organized to create armies to defend themselves, had to emulate most aggressive nations to survive. Social evolution: the pushing out of peaceful societies by the more aggressive ones: fighting became the norm, fighting lead to bidder and bigger political units, smaller communities were consumed. David fabro looked at more peaceful societies: said the inuit were a peaceful community, said peaceful groups shared common trends egalitarian societies. No restriction on who could hold positions of decision making. Any extra was divided up equally: these societies developed multiple norms that discouraged violence.
