Criminal justice system: future conduct of individual and community, the goal is to prevent crime from occurring in the future. Underlying belief structure: crime control method, societal interest in freedom and security and that is achieved through public order. Importance of victim: state subject to criticism, factual guilt. We would see things like neighborhood watch, gated communities etc. Would also use self-policing/community policing to keep the community safe and whole and not subject to these types of criminal pressures. We would see things like healing, compensation and even restorative justices as bringing the offender back into the community as a way to move forward. Social problems that leads to individuals undertaking criminal behaviour. The society creates the type of pressures that cause people to partake in criminal behaviours. The community things that they can deal with the crime in their own ways.
