Procedural: how the government uses its power (different means police officers, etc. , example: using a state- run system to provide controlled amounts of cannabis. (trudeau is head of government) Indictable offences and federal statutes are taken care of by federal courts: superior court is also at the federal level, precedence: decisions interpret the law that influence decisions in the future. The charter of rights and freedoms: s. 33. Stages of the criminal justice system process: conduct/ activity deemed/ defined as criminal. Government defines something as illegal: conduct/ activity committed. Someone violates the conduct: conduct reported police investigation. Conduct is reported & police investigate: charges laid.
