Participants put into stressful situation; psychologically involved; good psychological realism. Interesting finding that would be beneficial to replicate, but cannot be done. If participants get to 150 v, there is 80% chance of participant continuing. Research continued in ethical way - see if participant gets to 150 v, then use math to see how far they would get. Like zimbardo, milligram continued to correspond with participants; said they were glad they participated because it taught them about themselves. Thanking participant afterwards - get benefit from participating can"t always debrief when doing field work. Must always debrief when there is contact with participant. To get natural reactions, some extent of deception is necessary. To avoid getting the "good subject role" - by knowing true purpose of research, participant attempts to please you. If you don"t debrief about it or harm someone or deceive someone to the extent that participant doesn"t know what"s going on, deception is not okay.
