Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life: it is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain. Within the first three years of life, parents will start noticing it with cues such as less eye contact, smiling/social facial expressions. These cues might be more obvious in the second child. Formal diag(cid:374)osis is(cid:374)"t a(cid:272)tually (cid:373)ade at least u(cid:374)til age of three (cid:271)y the doctor. This is to make sure there are no other mechanisms causing delay of developmental milestones. When you have met one person with autism, you really have met one person with autism. All autistic people are so different i. e. a spectrum of abilities. For example, some are verbal, some are not.
