What technological developments transformed our ability to make media & remix culture: rise of computers, proliferation of code. Analog items record player, watch, old cameras. As humans, we perceive he world in analog. Everything we see & hear is a continuous transmission of information to our sense: this continuous stream is what de nes analog. Example: if colours in an image are continuous,a s with traditional photography & painting, there is always another colour between any two points of colour. Example: record player reads bumps & grooves to produce a continuous audio signal: some people like the quality of that better because it has more information than the digital copy. Example: vhs reads an electronic signal of audio & visual input, continuous signal. Involves breaking the signal into binary format where the audio, video, or pictorial data is represented by a series of 1 s & 0 s.
