Men have a similar distribution of pubic hair. Developmentally, the penis is the equivalent to the female clitoris, functionally though the penis corresponds to the clitoris, urethra and vagina because it is all involved in sexual arousal, excretion of urine and the transfer of gametes. The penis in its natural (uncircumcised) state has 3 visible portions: the shaft, head (glans) and the foreskin. The foreskin is a loose fold of skin that completely over partially covers the glans. Male circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin. Male circumcision is believed to decrease std transmission, reduce the incidence of utis, facilitates hygiene. The scrotum is the site of sperm production.
