Immigration was needed in three ways: 1) to settle the land; not aboriginals, europeans, 2) to do the work; especially if factories continue to grow, 3) to buy the goods. Immigration was a core part in the national policy. Canada was struggling, very hard to farm in prairies. Annual immigration: by 1903; numbers of immigrants begins to grow exponentially and by 1913, The vast majority of working immigrants came as single men. Their experience was mostly positive because they were highly trained. Adjustment is di cult at rst, but they were able to make the transition. Their experience was a real struggle for survival. Certain types of jobs are known to have certain types of immigrants. These are pockets where you get concentrations of certain types of workers.
