KINESIOL 1Y03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 28: Scapula, Frontal Bone, Epiphyseal Plate
Document Summary
Angular movements: angle between 2 straight portions of the body. Frontal plane: flexion: to bend; movement anterior to coronal plane, extension: to straighten; posterior to coronal plane (frontal) Sagittal (cardinal) plane relative to midline: abduction: away from midline, adduction: towards midline. Radial (abduction of wrist) deviation: movement of thumb toward radial bone. Ulnar/medial deviation (adduction of wrist): movement of thumb toward ulnar bone. Relative to head: lateral flexion (ear toward shoulder) Circular movements: movement within arch or around long axis or within large circle: rotation: lateral and medial rotation of humerus toward/away from body, pronation and supination: radius rotation at proximal end across ulna, circumduction: arch produced. Special movements: depression and elevation (scapula movement and mandible movement, opposition and reposition. A joint or articulation, is where we have a union of two or more bones. Most often we think of joints where bones move relative with each other, but this isn"t always the case.
