Document Summary

Eventually gets digested by osteoclasts and gets reformed by the osteoblasts and turned into more mature bone: lamellar bone. Regions of bones that create rods/plate like strucures > trabeculae: gives bone its porous structure. Spaces filled with red bone marrow and blood vessels. Trabeculae oriented along lines of stress (will align to withstand strong forces) so they are not aligned randomly. Not dense, so allows strength of bone while staying light. Surrounding the trabeculae: single layer of cells; mostly osteoblast cells, some osteoclast. Tends to be found in inside bones and flat, short, and irregular bone, and in the ends of long bones. Compact: blood vessels run thru the bones itself. Some run the length of the bone, which are located in the central (haversian) canal. Inside this canal, loose connective tissue and the nerves for the bones here. The central canals are connected to each other within the bone.
