If body is midline, abduction is movement away, Lateral deviation of hand away from body, thumb towards radial bone. =radial deviation(abduction) medial deviation, baby finger toward ulna=ulnar deviation (adduction) Movement in plane but relative to head: head is midline so cant move away, ear towards shoulder = lateral flexion: rotation. Movements done within a large circle, in an arc, or around an axis. Supination, palm up pronation palm down head of radius rotates along ulna at radial notch, where radius rotates ulna and radius cross when hand is pronated. Can happen at any joint that is able to undergo these. Ball and socket joints, shoulder, digits of hand, head relative to neck.
