Most of the time its about someone having an obsessive fear of gaining weight. Dieting disorder - ^ often about obsession losing weight and not just preventing it. Suggests a linkage between culture of dieting and eating disorders. A new category - binge eating disorder - challenges this approach. Forced us to change way we think about eating disorders. Way we diagnose people may not respond to particular disorder. As a category, ed ask us questions about how we differentiate one disorder from another, between culture and mental health problems. Stability of diagnosis - when we say someone "has" mental disorder we are describi interesting in situations where root issues of problems might be the same but behav. Emaciation - if 85% of their ideal (not personal ideal) body weight, they will fall for. Not that they don"t think about it, but they might revolve their whole day arou.
