Down town is known as the central business district. The cbd contains consumer, business, and public services. Central business district: the best known and most visually distinctive area of most cities is the central area commonly called downtown and known to geographers by cbd. Usually one of the oldest districts in a city. Consumer, business and public services are attracted to the cbd because of its accessibility. The center is easiest to reach from rest of region and is focal point of transportation network. Even with modern telecommunications many professionals still exchange information primarily through face to face contact. Everyone wants to be close to the action and where everything is happening so they can meet face to face if need be. The completion results to high land values in cbd. Because of high land value it is used more intensively. Takes up lots of land under ground and above ground sky rises become economically feasible.
