It is based on two greek words geo meaning earth, Contemporary geo is more than only writing about the earth it is a science. Human geographers: study cultural features such as economic activities and cities. Physical geographers: concentrate on the distribution of natural features such as landforms and vegetation. Geo uses scientific concepts to help understand human behaviour. Main tool in geo is a map. To explain why every place is unique geographers have two basic concepts: place: a specific point on earth distinguished by a particular characteristic. Every place occupies unique location or position on earth"s surface: region: an area of earth distinguished by a distinctive combination of culture and physical features.
