Too much telling, and not enough showing (or both in the same sentence, i. e. the reader is first shown and then told what they were just shown, which creates redundancies) There seems to be a misunderstanding that showing is only long and detailed description-> very few students showed their chosen emotion through dialogue (for example) Lack of dialogue to aid in plot construction, characterization, or the flow of events. Adding adjectives to your subject does not necessarily show. Lot"s of (cid:498)he thought(cid:499) or (cid:498)she felt that(cid:499) constructions-> they are wordy. Lot"s of (cid:498)becoming/ became(cid:499) (cid:498)started to(cid:499) (cid:498)began to(cid:499) (cid:498)is/ was able to(cid:499)- they are. Imprecise diction/description (cid:523)) know the idea you"re trying to express, but your ambiguous. Overuse of adverbs-> just avoid them if possible! Dense paragraph blocks= paragraphs breaks help with pacing. Repetitive word choices (sometimes in the same sentence) diction is not concise enough to pull off the description.
