Communication media can affect us on an individual, societal and global level. The internet has allowed individuals to become content producers not just content con- sumers. Communications technology has the ability to shrink space. To look analytically at the ways media are implicated in our knowledge and understand- ing of the world (p. 8) Not taking things for face value, but interpreting information. Ask whose or what interests do media serve and what role do they play in creating and mining relationships, particularly in relations of wealth and power (p. 8) How do we allocate our social resources, how can changes be made. How does media challenge social structure and processes. The act of making a message common to one or more people (p. 9) Sharing information, having two or more people understand the information you are con- veying. The act of transmitting and exchanging information and meaning through any form of language.
