Apollo tricks achilles (apollo is on the trojan side) Priam plays on hectors emotions to get him back to the gate. Hecuba reveals her breasts to her son to get him to come back (this is not a sexual, or inappropriate gesture, but a gesture of mother hood) Hectors parents plead with him to enter troy. Hector soliloquy (the monologue is an inner thought to himself) He is afraid to feel shame for running away. It"s too late to go back and change his mind. This is the right decision for a hero to make by choosing to die. We never see a man running away from battle. Hector wants to live as a hero, and wants to achieve glory, but he is torn by his peoples expectations of him. Right at the end when hector has decided to face achilles, who has been chasing him.
