The supernova method says that the galaxy is farther away than hubble"s. The e ect behaves exactly as if space has some extra energy built into it. Investigation of these supernovae in distant galaxies thus had a surprising outcome the discovery of dark energy galaxy mergers. Collisions can trigger large amounts of star formation. Galaxy collisions: galaxy merging is fundamental to building up structure in the universe galaxy collisions. Whole event may take ~500 million years to complete.
