This renaming occurred after the advent of the second republic. Parts of the louvre were added by napol on iii, linking buildings together. There were rooms where the royal family, and various dignitaries lived, as well as rooms where the permanent collections were displayed. The salon carr was where the salon was principally hung. For many years, the permanent collection was moved to other galleries during the duration of the salon.
