Is the practice of producing food and medicine in vertically stacked layers, vertically inclined surfaces and/or integrated in other structures. Malthus is concerned with population growth kept in line with food supply. Positive checks: war, starvation, disease, military conflicts direct checks. Famine and poverty is the natural outcome of population growth. Ideal society is a waste of time, improving the condition of the poor is a waste of time. They would consume more food instead of contributing. Argues that malthus didn"t see the technological advances. Technology, modernity, and economical growth will solve our problems. Tech will help us solve our problems. Decreasing biodiversity might increase our risk to infectious disease. We"ve been modifying/damaging the environment for a long time (small scale) Modern humans happening on a larger scale. Even in history we still damaged the environment. New high yield crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and mechanized equipment. Modified high yield crops started to spread in the 60s.
