The inmate: male, young, single, parents, marginally skilled, disproportionately aboriginal, disproportionately black. Jails and detention centres: correctional centres o, remand centres, correctional camps / farms / day detention centres / treatment centres. /community residences: federal correctional institutions, minimum-security institutions.
