Document Summary
Is the learning that occurs: when the participant must make a response to produce a change in the environment. Edward thorndike created the puzzle box with animals. Law of effect: thorndike"s view that reinforces promote learning and punishers lead to unlearning response: reinforcer event or stimulus that increases the frequency of the response that follows, shaping- consists of reinforces behaviors similar to desired behaviors. Examples compliments, money: positive reinforcer example reward. Results in behavior that is most likely to occur in the future: negative reinforcer example- yelling results in behavior that is less likely to occur in the future. Positive punishment: decrease of stimulus to decrease probability of a behavior to reoccur. Removal of stimulus to decrease the probability of the behavior reoccurring. Two more ways of recording partial reinforcement: fixed ratio: reinforcement is provided after a specific amount of number or time, variable ratio: provided at different rates or at different times.
