Large amount of speculation goes into interpretation - are there other ways: alternative interpretations- There is a certain methodology to go about psychological research- Goal use information obtained from one person to understand behaviors of others. Disadvantage- what is learned by studying one person may not necessarily apply to other people. Goal descriptive settings, frequency and characteristics certain behaviors in real world. Advantage- in observing behaviors as they occur, without intervening or altering behaviors. Disadvantage- may not be ethically correct, need the persons consent. Goal collecting info from a selected group of people who are representative of larger group. Advantage- in describing characteristics of large pop, relatively inexpensive. Goal seeking to prove complete narrative description of entire phenomenon or culture.
