In the case of democracies, sources of oppression come from multiple hands instead of one ruler: he doesn"t see democracies as morally better than monarchies, the attempt to use republican government to limit or legitimate government fails in. No voting, military service, running for office. Disengagement from politics: the transformation of society and the system has to begin with individuals and what they do. Individuals have to resort to a pacific or pacifist lifestyle. The reception of this approach politically and historically has been proven to be effective. Non-violence (passive resistance) has had an effect (vietnam, decolonization of india, civil rights movement in the us) There is something realistic about what he is prescribing. It is a strategy of politics: this all only works if, everyone is participating in this approach. Not just the public but the government as well restraint has to be shown to the people in power.
