Disarmament does not fix the fundamental problems leading to conflict. Fundamentally diff. from realists: optimistic about human nature. Accept that war and conflict are kind of necessary as long as we can learn a lesson from the costly wars. 1: pursuit of good was matter of right reasoning. 2: spread of knowledge makes it possible for everyone to reason rightly. 3: everyone who reasons right will always act right. Kant: wars waged by princes in their own interest and not the interest of the people. There would be no wars under republican form of government. Behaviours not intervened by state, free trade/free market is often considered to be a good thing. Should remove all state controls in economic matters: without external control, individuals could promote interest of communities. Interest of individuals identical with that of the community. Free trade is just: max. of econ. If free trade matters, therefore national boundaries should cease to be barriers for trade.
