Nerve impulse: the central nervous system- brain and spinal cord, peripheral- everything outside of that- nerves in skin eyes etc sensory system. It consists of the outputs- neurons that go out to skeletal muscles to control output of movement, and the neurons that controls organs. They propagate the electrical potential: the electrical properties of neurons, neurons have a slightly negative resting potential. Inside the neuron, it is slightly negative= the voltage is . -06 or - 60- -70mv compared to the outside of the neuron. Voltage is used relatively which is why we can say its negative, so specify the comparison! Inside the cell, there"s a tiny imbalance of elements. The number of positive ions and negative ions is equal if they come from the same ion. But the inside of the cell has more singular elements that don"t break down to positive and negative constituents.
