Cancer occurrence: complying statistics annually is important for epidemiological reasons, to see if there are areas of each country that have a higher prevalence of a certain type of cancer. However, the relative mortality (the fraction of people that will die) is decreasing. Many media outlets spread incorrect information, for example, 1 in 9 women will have breast cancer. This is true for women who are 85 years old: by age 25, there is a 1 in 19,608 chances of having breast cancer, by age 65, there is a 1 in 17 chances of having breast cancer.
