Ex: if there is a war: level of stress increases ageing. Multidimensional and multidirectional: average lifespan increased by 20-25 years over past. Influences: genetic, lifestyle, environment, historical period century. Wear and tear theory: nutrition, jogging, cognitive ex: meditation/yoga, key to this course: how does nurture affect. How does one factor influence another factor which as an overall affect on the person. Dna cellular level: programmed affect of specific genes. As it shortens, the dna becomes more vulnerable oyu are more prone to biological ageing: random events. It makes the dna more vulnerable as it replicates at an incredible speed thus shortening the telomere. It also replicates any mutations thereby increases the ageing. Organ/tissue level: cross linkage theory, few resting changes, lower performance under stress, hypertension, atherosclerosis.
