Last class: april 10 attendance strongly recommended. Part 1 end off treg responses + treg in regards to microbes. Organ- specific autoimmunity type 1 diabetes. Part 2 mystery case #2. Some slides are review/summary slides. Material about previous lectures, etc. Will be gone over very fast or skipped altogether. Regulatory cells at focal point of balance between immunity and suppression in immune and non- immune conditions. Treg are known by tf foxp3 and constitutive surface expression of cd25 il2 receptor alpha. Unique suppressive subset of cd4+ t cells inborn immunosuppressive functions. Tolerance to not just self ag depletion develop organ- specific autoimmunity, but would wipe out tumors. Master- switch for intra/extra- thymic development foxp3 tf. Example resident microbes > commensals. ~1% body weight is commensal bacteria. If commensal bacteria are perturbed, can provoke gut inflammatory disorders. Removal of tregs heighten local t cell response to bacteria. Treg controls response to commensals.
