Active voice: the subject of the sentence performs the action expressed by the verb!
Ex. The girl kicked the ball!

Passive voice: !
1. the subject of the sentence is acted upon- receives the action expressed by the verb!
2. The passive voice usually contains “by”, and uses some form of “to be” verb-am, is, was,
were, are, been!
Ex. The ball was kicked by the girl!
Ex. The exam was failed by 8 students!
Problems with the passive voice:!
1. Requires more words( less concise, and often less impactful)!
2. Risk of dangling modifiers
