Globalization took form economically and ideologically in the 1970s. Economic institutions, such as the world trade organization, promoted economic development of developing countries, yet instigated a level of dependency. Globalization of ideologies were framed as a modernization of vietnam, but instead posed as a way for americans to restrain communism and impose their own ideological values. American globalization claimed to be a movement that promoted universal development, but instead was based on the american self interest, juxtaposed through an expansion of international economic policies and restriction and imposition of desired ideologies.
