In italy at this time there are many languages spoken throughout the peninsula. Had a great cultural impact on rome. Romans were ruled by the etruscans from a couple hundred years. Romans believed that certain institutions or key markers of roman culture (ie togas or religious festivals) came from the etruscans. They were called the rasenna (that"s what the etruscans called themselves) There are about a dozen major etruscan cities in antiquity. Veii is the biggest and the largest, 30-40 km from rome, in the south. Felathri was a big city in the north.
