Document Summary

Not something new (started when things get burned) Humans feel better after leaving a polluted area. Perception of threat presents negative outcome. Primary pollution emitted into the atmosphere (co/no) Secondary pollution chemical reaction with primary pollutant. Ozone is bad when it is close to the surface. Ozone is good once it"s in the stratosphere and protects us from solar. Acute pollution: happens once (oil spill) radiation. Chronic pollution: happens over a long time. Cumulative can lead to chronic conditions. Difficult to point out health causes of pollution. Pollutants are a tiny fraction of the atmosphere and they are near to the ground form of trace grasses (carbon dioxide, water vapor) Stratosphere = has ozone that absorb ultraviolet radiation (increase energy and temperature) Increased temperature and heat content implications for air pollution. No rain and no life (water vapor needs to condensate around something. Precipitation and creation of water will absorb pollutants (wash out atmosphere)
